Raise the RoofDuring my senior public relations campaigns class, all 15 students were divided into teams to run semester-long campaigns for three local nonprofits in Baton Rouge. I worked with four other classmates to produce an extensive public relations campaign for the Youth Oasis Children's Shelter.
Part of the campaign included a joint event with the two other nonprofits. Our class came up with Raise the Roof — a fundraising event highlighting "three Baton Rouge nonprofits coming together for the benefit of our youth." Raise the Roof featured local food trucks, beer provided by Tin Roof Brewery, a silent auction, games and music. A portion of proceeds from food and all proceeds from silent auction items went back to the three nonprofits in order to supplement their fundraising goals. Throughout the campaign, I held the role of design director, and my job description included designing materials for the Youth Oasis campaign, but I also designed every aspect of the event and promotional materials to advertise for it. |
LocationTin Roof Brewery
11624 Wyoming St. Baton Rouge, LA 70802 Tin Roof Brewery was gracious enough to let us host Raise the Roof there for free. Tin Roof's atmosphere was perfect for the event, and they had ample room outside for us to have food trucks, plenty of seating, sponsors, information tables, games and a silent auction inside. |
